A surfing dog has raised $500,000 for various charities since she started fundraising six years ago.

According to The San Diego Union-Tribune , Ricochet, the golden retriever best known for surfing with special needs children and people with disabilities, reached the $500,000 fundraising mark on New Year’s eve, reported.
Known as the only SURFice dog on the planet, Ricochet’s fundraising efforts began in 2009 when a video of her surfing with local quadriplegic surfer Patrick Ivison went viral.
Most of the fundraising has been done through Ricochet’s popular Surf Dog Ricochet Facebook page, which has more than 231,000 loyal followers. The fundraising has benefitted more than 250 different causes dedicated to kids with special needs, people with disabilities, veterans with PTSD and animals in need.
“Reaching this major milestone demonstrates how much Ricochet’s worldwide community supports her efforts,” her handlers said in a press release. “She sincerely thanks her individual donors, social media followers, corporate sponsors and members of the media for their continued support.”
