Ethiopia broke a world record last month by planting more than 350 million trees in just 12 hours.

The tree-planting effort was part of “Green Legacy”, a wider reforestation campaign spearheaded by the country’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Millions of citizens took part in the challenge and managed to plant 150 million trees in the first six hours of the campaign.
The Prime Minister took to Twitter after the 12-hour period to announce that Ethiopia had exceeded its collective goal. The Minister for Innovation and Technology announced on Twitter that “a total of 353,633,660 tree seedlings had been planted”.
