Twitter CEO says political influence should be earned, not bought.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has announced on Twitter that the social media platform will ban all political advertising, effective 22 November.
Dorsey posted a Twitter thread detailing his company’s decisions, which seem to respond to the arguments that have been made by Facebook. He said that political messages “should not be compromised by money.”
He added: “Internet political ads present entirely new challenges to civic discourse: machine learning-based optimization of messaging and micro-targeting, unchecked misleading information, and deep fakes. All at increasing velocity, sophistication, and overwhelming scale.”
Dorsey concluded the thread by saying that it is not about free expression; but rather, a caution on how political speech has ramifications on democracy.
