The first patients in UK human trial were injected in Oxford, UK.
More than 800 people have been recruited for the study and the first two volunteers were injected yesterday.
Half of the patients will be injected with the Covid-19 vaccine while the other half will receive a control vaccine protecting against meningitis instead of coronavirus.
Volunteers will not know which vaccine they got due to the design of the trial but doctors, however, will.
Elisa Granato, one of the two who received the jab, told the BBC: “I’m a scientist, so I wanted to try to support the scientific process wherever I can.”
